The Chair of Space Mobility and Propulsion (SMP) has been founded in 2022 at the Technical University of Munich. SMP is intending to procure a Vacuum Chamber system to conduct hot-fire tests of small rocket engines (<10N) under vacuum conditions.
The vacuum chamber system is intended to be used for the conduction of various tests of spaceflight hardware under vacuum conditions. These tests include the hot-firing of small rocket engines (i.e. thrusters) operated on gaseous hydrogen and gaseous oxygen with a thrust of less than 10N inside the vacuum chamber. The gases are combusted inside the combustion chamber of the thruster and are transformed into water vapour. Furthermore, a complete space propulsion system utilizing such a thruster shall be tested under vacuum conditions. SMP is therefore looking for a Vacuum system that includes a vacuum chamber (incl. openable hatch(es)), vacuum pump(s), as well as any other equipment that might be necessary for the creation and maintenance of the specified vacuum conditions that are within the specified interfaces. Moreover, the Vacuum Chamber itself shall allow possible upgrades in the future regarding the achievable vacuum quality and the extension of the chamber. For detailed specifications it is referred to the provided document "Specification for Tenders".
